Ingrediënten

  • 240 gram milk powder
  • 60 gram flour
  • 1½ tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch soda
  • 60 ml milk
  • Oil for frying

For sugar syrup:

  • 1 ¼ cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ilaitjie (spice)
  • few drops of rose essence

Directions balls:

  1. Add the butter, milk powder, flour and baking powder to a bowl and mix well. Add the milk little by little and keep kneading.
  2. Roll the dough into smooth balls. They should be free of cracks or lines or they may burst while frying.
  3. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan. Lower the heat to medium and bake the balls till golden brown.

Directions syrup:

  1. Bring the sugar and water to a boil on low heat and add the ilaitjie.
  2. Let the syrup cool down.
  3. Add the balls in to the syrup, leave in the fridge for 3-6 hours to cool.
  4. Ready to serve.
